About Megalosaurus
The first dinosaur to be scientifically named (1824). A large theropod known from fragmentary remains. Was a wastebasket taxon for decades — many theropods were incorrectly assigned to it. The jaw bone was originally thought to belong to a giant lizard. Walked on two powerful legs and hunted sauropods and stegosaurs.
