About Archaeopteryx
The famous missing link between dinosaurs and birds. Had feathers clearly visible in fossils, but also teeth, a long bony tail, and three clawed fingers on each wing. Could likely fly, but not as well as modern birds. Known from only about a dozen specimens, all from the Solnhofen limestone in Bavaria. Not a direct ancestor of modern birds, but a close relative.
