About Deinonychus
The dinosaur that revolutionized paleontology. John Ostrom described it in 1969, arguing it was an active, agile predator — sparking the dinosaur renaissance. The raptor in Jurassic Park was actually based on Deinonychus, not Velociraptor. Had a large sickle claw on each foot and likely hunted in packs. Feathered ancestor of modern birds.
