The Largest Dinosaurs to Ever Live
Sauropods were the largest animals to ever walk on land. Argentinosaurus may have reached 35 meters and 65 tonnes. Patagotitan was similar in size.
Dreadnoughtus, known from relatively complete remains, was 26 meters long. Blue whales (up to 190 tonnes) are still heavier, but they live in water. How did sauropods get so big? Their long necks let them reach food efficiently, they had bird-like lungs with air sacs that made them lighter, and they laid eggs, avoiding the problem of gestating massive young.
Their size also protected them from predators..
